Sqéwqel Development Corporation (SqDC), Seabird Island First Nation’s economic driver, celebrated one of its newest acquisitions, the Harrison Hot Springs Marina, on Saturday, May 17th!
Everyone was invited to join us for this special event! Guests enjoyed a variety of food trucks, snacking on sweet treats as they browsed the vendors, or enjoying a warm lunch at the tables resting under the tents. Children lined up to get their faces painted, then dove into the bouncy castle. Vendor’s tents lined up before the backdrop of the Harrison Lake, protecting the crafts and artwork from the pattering rain above.
The official opening ceremony began at 11 a.m., bringing everyone together for some speeches, powerful drumming and singing, and the ribbon cutting, celebrating the new connection between SqDC, Seabird Island and the Harrison Hot Springs Marina.
SqDC would like to give everyone who made the celebration a success our thanks.
The sunshine may have taken the day off, but the rain couldn’t dampen the excitement as we came together to mark a new chapter for the Marina. This marks not just a large step forward for our own economic growth, but a contribution to the broader economic strength of the Stó:lō people. We look forward to this new chapter of the Harrison Hot Springs Marina.
We'd love to hear from you. Feel free to fill out the form, email or give us a call to book a meeting with us.
